G1-Class14 Class 14 BR Green (Unnumbered) Diesel Locomotive
Made in Sheffield.
Affectionately known as the “Teddy Bear”, The loco was powered by a 650hp Paxman Ventura engine and equipped with a Voith hydraulic transmission, the Class 14 combines reliability with a uniquely British aesthetic. Its central cab layout provides excellent visibility, making it ideal for both industrial work and heritage operations.
Though their mainline career was short-lived — all withdrawn by 1970 — the Class 14 found a second life in industry. These locomotives served for decades in collieries, steelworks, and private sidings, earning a reputation for robustness and ease of use.
Today, over 20 examples are preserved across the UK. Some even taking on modern roles, including engineering duties on High Speed 1 (HS1).
- Working Suspension
- Carbon Fibre Activated Connecting rods
- Laser cut windows
- Steel chassis
- Sprung Buffers
Charge the locomotive: ALD Models recommend using a 12V NiMH Smart Charger the charge point and On/Off switch is located on the base of the chassis.
Before each run: We suggest lightly oiling all moving components with 3-in-1 multipurpose oil to keep the mechanism smooth.
This locomotive is equipped with LocoRemote allowing you to control directly from your smartphone using your Wifi settings. Further instructions included with the model.
