







5296 Class 52 D1000 Western Enterprise BR Desert Sand (small yellow panels) Diesel Locomotive
Produced between 1961 and 1964, The class 52 were built as a collaboration between Swindon Works (who built 30 units) and Crewe Works (who built 44 units) and were a stable part of mainline traction on the Western region of British Railways. These locomotives were used right up to late 1970's when they were withdrawn from services. A few locomotives were saved by preservation groups where they were overhauled and put into service.
