History

When Ford refreshed the Granada Mk2 range in late 1981, they simplified the naming of their sporting variant to simply '2.8 Injection', dropping the previous S nomenclature. This wasn't just a badge change, the 2.8 Injection was engineered for driving enthusiasts who wanted a larger car with genuine performance credentials.

Uprated suspension, Recaro seats, front spotlights, and those unmistakable white alloy wheels set it apart from the luxury-focused Ghia models, though many buyers still opted for the convenience of automatic transmission.

The particular Granada modelled here has a remarkable story. Originally purchased from Hunts Motors in St Neots, Cambridgeshire, in October 1982, this manual example was discovered by Ford enthusiast Clive O'Dell in June 1996 with just 40,000 miles on the clock. His son Matthew learnt to drive in it on private land at fourteen, and the car became a family project spanning decades.

After a full body restoration by JD Autos and a twenty-year storage period, Matthew commissioned its reassembly in 2020. Following an engine rebuild by RGS Motorsport in 2022, complete with rolling road tuning, this Caspian Blue Granada now serves as both a cherished family heirloom and a stunning example of 1980s Ford performance heritage.
