1-203 JR D51 Steam Locomotive
The D51 was active throughout the country, thanks to its ability to be operated on low-standard lines (Otsu lines) and the largest number of production locomotives produced by the Japanese National Railways and JR. It is a type that can be said to be synonymous with steam locomotives, and is still popular today under the nickname "Degoichi". It was used as the main locomotive in non-electrified sections from before the war to the mid-Showa period, and a major feature is that it has different appearances despite being the same type, with various equipment being installed in each locomotive depot reflecting the climate and operating conditions all over the country.
