The E6 Series “Komachi” began service in 2013 on the Akita Shinkansen, operating at up to 320 km/h when coupled with the E5/H5 Series between Tokyo and Morioka. To meet the needs of increasing overseas travellers with large luggage, the real trains underwent modifications between 2018 and 2019, adding expanded luggage storage and filling selected windows. All cars except Car 11 (Green Car) now feature these updates.

This latest model faithfully reproduces the modernised E6 Series with accurate window-blocking and updated detailing. It can be coupled seamlessly with the upcoming E5 “Hayabusa” and H5 “Hayabusa” releases for authentic multi-set operation between Tokyo and Sendai. Hobby Center Kato also includes a powered bogie with traction tyres, ideal for running the E6 as a standalone set.
