76MAZ002 Mazda MX5 Mk1 (Soft Top) British Racing Green
Oh yes, this is one very smart sports car and it’s hard to believe it dates back to 1989 when it was first launched by the Japanese motor manufacturing company at the Chicago Motor Show. Always a two-person lightweight vehicle, you’ve been treated to the open top version in bright red with Oxford’s launch model. Now it has a lovely light tan canvas hood and is painted in British Racing Green, always an iconic colour. The interior is also dark green with pale tan seating and instrument panel. It is registered L190 RKU from 1993, the year in which the MkI 1.6L engine was replaced by a 1.8 litre engine. Exterior trim is finished in black, wheels are silver and further detail includes the MX-5 and Mazda name printed above the rear number plate, with the Mazda badge sitting on the edge of the bonnet.
It is not difficult to understand why the Mazda was such an initial success and why it has earned the accolade since of being the best selling two-seater convertible sports car of all time.
